Baker cypress (Cupressus bakeri)

  • Needles: Small, scale-like, pale green leaves with a narrow ridge on back.

  • Fruit: Small, rounded silvery cones have 6 to 8 thickened scales; shed numerous, tiny seeds at maturity.

  • Appearance: Small tree commonly under 50 feet (15 m); larger trees can be found in Oregon.

  • Distribution: Rare species found only in the Siskiyou Mountains of northern California and Oregon, in isolated groves.
