Buckeye (Aesculus)

genus is not native to Oregon and is currently not fully described
on this website.
- Leaves: palmately compound and opposite, with
a very long petiole (leaf
stem)
- Fruit: reddish-brown seed with a huge white dot
(looks like a buck's eye), packaged in a leathery husk sometimes with
spiny bristles; husks
open along clean, straight lines; nuts toxic to humans
- Flowers: white to pink, in large, showy, upright clusters
